The Position

We are seeking an experienced and driven Nurse Manager – Perioperative to lead and coordinate the clinical practice, patient experience and business performance of the Perioperative Services.  This position ensures exceptional evidence-based patient care is delivered through the management of human, financial, patient safety and material resources in accordance with professional standards, organisational goals, mission and values. This position is being offered on a permanent full-time basis and is expected to commence January 2021.

Key focus areas of the role include:

  • Leadership and management of the operating theatre scheduling and booking framework
  • Participating in regular Doctor engagement activities to ensure high level engagement and satisfaction with standards of care and patient outcomes
  • Actively manage and oversee the efficient movement of patients through the hospital and associated services
  • Perform operational and 90-day planning for the unit in accordance with the organisational mission and strategic goals
  • Achievement of service performance targets for patient safety, quality care and patient satisfaction

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Current Nursing registration with AHPRA
  2. Postgraduate qualifications in specific perioperative nursing field with five (5) years’ experience working in perioperative environment (highly desirable)
  3. Minimum six (6) years post basic registration experience including four (4) years’ management experience within relevant area of Perioperative Services (highly desirable)
  4.  Minimum of 2 years’ experience in clinical redesign and/or project management
  5. Relevant Sterilisation qualification or 12 months working in a Sterilisation Department
  6. Demonstrated experience in a leadership role including management of human, financial and resource management
  7. Operational knowledge and skills in Australian & New Zealand National Standards, also the National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards relating to the Perioperative Environment
  8. High level knowledge of clinical governance principles and demonstrated working knowledge of clinical documentation requirements relevant to the role

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements

It is a condition of employment for this role that you are vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against the following vaccine preventable diseases; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis.

Prior to being made an offer of employment, you will be required to provide evidence of immunity to Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs). Staff employed prior to 1 July 2017 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements.
