The Position

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse with an acute medical background

Day to day duties for this role will include (but not be limited to):

  • Assisting with the management of staff, resources and patient flow during shift, including rostering and allocation of workloads in a Team Leader role
  • Delivery of exceptional quality direct care at the bedside, demonstrating a high level of skill in clinical decision making and hands-on care-giving, including problem identification and solution, analysing and interpreting clinical data, as well as treating patients with a wide range of conditions
  • Providing mentorship, educational and clinical support, advocating for change and utilising positive reinforcement
  • Application of current policies and procedures and an understanding of the implications for nursing practice to achieve best practice patient outcomes.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualification and current AHPRA registration.
  2. Demonstrated experience in an acute medical environment including patient management with acute medical conditions such as stroke, sepsis, electrolyte imbalance, endocrine disorders, respiratory distress etc.
  3. Demonstrated leadership skills to comprehensively guide and co-ordinate a team, provide support, educate and mentor staff, and conflict resolution management.
  4. Knowledge and ability to apply critical evaluation consistent with current nursing and general practice standards, guidelines, regulations and legislations.
  5. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build trust, promote confidence and satisfaction with patients, families and support persons.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements

It is a mandatory condition of employment for this role that you are vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against the following vaccine preventable diseases; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis. Staff employed prior to 1 July 2017 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirement
