The Position

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses for our busy 30 bed Orthopaedic Unit with acute surgical knowledge and skills. 

Day to day duties for this role will include (but not be limited to):

  • Delivery of exceptional patient care, demonstrating a level of skill in clinical decision making and hands-on care-giving for a range of acute surgical conditions
  •  Appropriate and accurate application of clinical assessment procedures to evaluate health status to identify and apply timely care intervention for best patient outcomes
  • Identifies when a more detailed assessment and/or intervention is required and seeks the input of clinical peers, the General Practitioner and other relevant health professionals
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills that enhances and supports quality patient care and accuracy of clinical record, builds team trust and confidence
  • Compliance with, and application of current policies and procedures and an understanding of their implications for nursing practice to achieve best practice patient outcomes.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualification and current registration with AHPRA
  2. Demonstrated acute orthopaedic experience including patient management, pain management strategies both pre, and post-surgical and observation/reporting post-operative complications (highly desirable)
  3. Demonstrated experience in the management of tractions, cast, splint devices and mobility devices
  4. Relevant clinical experience gained in an acute surgical environment that demonstrates knowledge and skills that are applicable to a role in orthopaedics
  5. Relevant medical experience gained in an acute environment that demonstrates knowledge and skills transferable to a role in a surgical unit
  6.  Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, share information and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary health team.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements

It is a mandatory condition of employment for this role that you are vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against the following vaccine preventable diseases; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis. Staff employed prior to 1 July 2017 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirement.
