We have exciting opportunities for Registered Nurses with acute care backgrounds (or a passion to develop the skills required) to join our CCU/ICU. This specialised unit provides evidence based care for acute cardiology patients who require intensive cardiac medical and nursing management.

Our CCU/ICU is a 9-bed unit that provides a high level of care for acutely ill patients. The successful applicant will provide highly specialised care while working closely with the CIU (Cardiac Investigation Unit) and Unit 2 teams (23 bed Cardiac Step-Down Unit).  The position offers the opportunity to develop proficiency and experience in the areas of cardiology, post cardiothoracic surgery, post interventional surgery, post interventional cardiology, neurology and stroke, renal medicine and respiratory medicine.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Evidence of tertiary qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (Specialist Nursing Qualifications highly desirable)
  2. Demonstrated recency of practice in an acute care setting with critical care experience highly desirable
  3. ALS competent or the ability to obtain ALS competency to act as a MET team member
  4. Advanced communication and evaluation skills that enhance and promote patient care and safety, including highly developed critical problem-solving skills
  5. Knowledge of and a demonstrated commitment to quality processes including policies, guidelines and evidence-based practices
  6. Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate patient care within a multidisciplinary team environment to provide outcome-based care
  7. High attention to detail to ensure documentation is current, accurate, timely and maintains confidentiality
  8. High level computer literacy and working knowledge of; RosterOn, TrendCare, Riskman and Microsoft Office applications

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements

It is a mandatory condition of employment for this role that you are vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against the following vaccine preventable diseases; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis.

Staff employed prior to 1 July 2017 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements.
