The Position

We are seeking an experienced and driven Nurse Unit Manager – Orthopaedics to lead a team of experienced clinical professionals to achieve excellence in health care.  This position ensures exceptional evidence-based patient care is delivered through the management of human, financial, patient safety and material resources in accordance with professional standards, organizational goals, mission and values.  This position is being offered on a permanent full-time basis. 

As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Creating an empowering work environment that enables the achievement of our hospital mission
  • Facilitating collaborative teams to deliver quality patient care
  • Management of people and financial resources to deliver safe and efficient health care within available resources
  • Achievement of service performance targets for patient safety, quality care and patient satisfaction

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Current nursing registration with AHPRA
  2. Demonstrated experience in a clinical leadership role including management of human, financial and resource management
  3. Demonstrated expert clinical competence in the management of the surgical patient
  4. Demonstrated experience with leading a diverse clinical environment with multiple complexities including the stakeholder management of patients, specialists, families and staff in addition to facilitation of change management and working within strict budgetary and key performance targets
  5. Proven experience in the identification and application of continuous quality improvement and risk management plans to enhance clinical outcomes
  6. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and proven negotiation and conciliation skills.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements

It is a condition of employment for this role that you are vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against the following vaccine preventable diseases; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis.

Prior to being made an offer of employment, you will be required to provide evidence of immunity to Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs). Staff employed prior to 1 July 2017 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements.
